Visit Wembley Visit Brent.
It's yours... Join in!
That’s the key message of the Brent Cultural Strategy for 2010-2015, and that was the message given to Reuben Internet after our successful pitch to develop a brand-new website for Brent’s Culture, Sport and Learning Forum.
Home to the iconic Wembley Stadium, Wembley Arena and the biggest Hindu temple outside India, the London Borough of Brent is one of the most dynamic and culturally diverse places in the UK. Working closely with the Forum Team, we were tasked with building a website which communicates this diversity and encourages both local residents and occasional visitors to take full advantage of the huge range of cultural opportunities in Brent.
Capturing online traffic from visitors planning trips to Wembley Stadium or Wembley Arena, the primary function of visitwembleyvisitbrent.com is to provide comprehensive information on the borough’s cultural offer – from eating out to playing sport to heritage to green spaces.
At the heart of the website is a directory of 700+ shops, restaurants, hotels, museums, parks and cinemas. Local businesses can add their own listings, events and special offers – they can even plot themselves on Google Maps!
Another key feature of the site is the ‘My Visit Planner’ app which visitors can use to create a personalized itinerary ahead of their trip to Brent, whether it’s a one-off event or a regular activity.
Developed in ASP.NET and deploying advanced Content Management with UMBRACO open source CMS, the site has been a huge success since its launch in April 2011. To date it has generated 52,000 hits and crucially, thousands of visits to Brent and mass participation in events.
It’s yours, join in. That was the message, and thanks to a strategically developed and multifunctional website, that’s exactly what is happening in Brent.
